Phantom Craft
I had the great honour of working with Phantom Craft a local spirits company based in Knysna, South Africa. Their products are created to pay tribute to the natural wonders of Knysna and the Garden Route through unique storytelling and branding.
The Brief
Create an emblem for Phantom Gin that celebrates ‘the Phantom Moth’ as well as the different botanicals found within the composition of the gin.
The Solution
I designed a unique emblem that incorporated the various story elements that surround the inspiration behind Phantom Gin namely the forest and mystery surrounding the Phantom Moth. The Phantom Moth is an endemic creature and can only be found in the mysterious Knysna forests.
To pull through the mysterious theme I created a story within the wings of the moth using creatures from the forest and botanicals used in the gin.
In addition to the family
Their second gin pays tribute to another mysterious endemic creature; the endangered Brenton Blue Butterfly from Brenton-on-Sea in Knysna. I used the same design concept this time incorporating creatures and botanicals unique to the new gin.
